Hi!

I am a UKCP Accredited and BACP Registered psychotherapist based in London, specialising in working with individuals and couples.

Isil Sansoy Psychotherapist Counsellor

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Therapies. I am currently completing a Doctorate in Existential Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Since 2011, I have been practising in a variety of settings across London, including Imece Women’s Centre, NHS East London Foundation Trust (Cognitive Analytic Therapy Team), the Centre for Better Health, and in private practice.

My work is grounded in an integrative approach, drawing on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Somatic Experiencing, Existential Psychotherapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and Solution Focused Therapy—always held within a humanistic and existential framework.

I have found that a tailored, relational approach is especially effective when working with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, phobias, relationship difficulties, and psychosomatic experiences. I also support individuals in navigating deeper existential concerns around identity, meaning, and belonging.

In particular, I work with the ways trauma can dysregulate the nervous system, making it difficult to establish an inner connection. In such states, it’s common to sacrifice livelihood for the sake of safety. My role is to gently support the reintegration of those lost or fragmented parts of the self—so that over time, safety and authenticity can coexist.

I also work with couples. I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 3), and integrate its principles alongside Solution Focused Therapy to help couples rebuild trust, deepen emotional connection, and move through conflict with greater awareness and resilience.

I offer in-person sessions in London (N1) and remote sessions via Skype or Zoom. I am a recognised practitioner with AXA, Aviva, and Vitality.

My Approach

Therapy, to me, is a space for reconnecting with your true self. It is a process of committing to inner honesty, healing, and growth. Often, when the nervous system has been overwhelmed by trauma, our bodies hold onto protective patterns that once kept us safe—but now keep us disconnected. We may trade authenticity for security, losing touch with what feels real and alive inside us.

Through our work together, we can create a space where those patterns begin to loosen, and the nervous system finds the capacity to feel, relate, and express more freely. As inner safety is re-established, it becomes possible to live in deeper alignment—with oneself, others, and the world.

Whether you’re seeking therapy for a particular difficulty or embarking on a broader existential journey, I offer a reflective and supportive space where genuine transformation can take root.
